it can free you, unlink the chains
it can drive the clouds from the sky
that’s in your brain

it can move you to a better place
it can slow you down or pick up the pace
it can take you up or down.  it’ll do
whatever it takes

darkness doesn’t stand a chance
unless you shun the light
it all depends on where you stand
some people prefer the  night

and so a cloudy day, what could be worse?
and so a dark, dark day, and you feel you’ve been cursed
and then the sun comes up in the third verse, shifting
dreary into reverse

Keep Them Hid

I haven’t made any lists, but if I did, I’d keep them hid.
I wouldn’t want some weirdo looking at my lists.
That’s even if I made lists.

I don’t make wishes, but if I did, I’d keep them hid.
I wouldn’t want other people blowing out my candles.
That’s even if I made wishes.

I don’t have any cookies, but if I did, I’d keep them hid.
I don’t want any snoopers snooping under my bed.
That’s why I moved them.
Like I even had some.

 I don’t keep nothin’ that ain’t worth hiding.
 I won’t clutter up my life with non-necessities.
 I don’t try to hang on to that which won’t be held.
 Don’t want to squander my time or waste my energy.

I don’t have any friends, but if I did, I’d keep them hid,
With the cookies in a box with lots of locks upon the lid.
That’s even if I did,
Like I ever did.

I don’t have any problems, but if I did, I’d keep them hid away.
I don’t want to put my problems on display.
I’m not saying I have one.
Hey, what’s a problem?

I’ve got nothing on my mind, nothing in my heart.
But if I did, you can bet I’d keep it hid.
That’s only if I did,
Only if I did,
If I only did.
